Current Event # 1

This past weekend marked one of the most historic events in the history of the United States of America. While Rev. Al Sharpton galvanized tremendous support for the March on Washington anniversary, Glenn Beck mobilized a rally of his own themed to be civil rights based. It is evident that these two events were in direct conflict with one another in every way. While both events were purposed to address similar causes, the two groups criticized each other greatly. As I witnessed these events this weekend I became extremely disappointed. Dr. Martin Luther King fought to end segregation and hate, however, on a date that was purposed to celebrate his historic speech, it was clear that racial separation was still well and alive. After many years, I still declare that there is still much work to be done on the issue of race relations.
